Minutes of Meeting No. 1
(New Delhi, 31 January 2016)
The first meeting of Markazi Majlis-e-Mushawarat of AIMMM, for the term 2016-2017, was held on 31st January 2016 at the Central Office in New Delhi. Mr Navaid Hamid, the newly elected president chaired the meeting. Hafiz Syed Athar Ali recited from the Quran before formal discussion could open.
List of the participants, who came from all over the country is being attached at the end of the Minutes. Mr Akhtar Husain Akhtar, (Kanpore), Mr Ejaz Ahmad Aslam Delhi, Mr Ahmed Rasheed Sherwani, Maulana Jalaluddin Umri, Mr KM Arifuddin, Mr KM Faseehuddin, Mr Mohd. Shafi Madni, Maulana Asghar Ali Imam Mehdi Salafi, Maulana Dr Kalbe Sadiq, Maulana Juned Ahmad Banarsi were among the members who intimated their inability to attend.
In his opening remarks the President offered his gratitude to Almighty Allah that members of the Mushawarat gathered to serve the community and the nation through the prestigious platform of Mushawarat. Admitting his weaknesses, he sought members to provide him strength through their active cooperation and constructive suggestions. He expressed his determination to make the federal identity of the Mushawarat stronger and involve various organizations and Masaliks more effectively. In this connection he referred the joining of Maulana Dr Kalbe Sadiq, Maulana Hafiz Syed Athar Ali and Maulana Yaseen Usmani. He informed that the well known Barelivi leader Maulana Tauqeer Raza had also shown his interest to join the Mushawarat.
Referring to the current political scenario, the attitude of the Government, utterances of Subramanyam Swami regarding Mosques, Babri Masjid, etc and on other burning issues like Enemy Property Ordinance, minority status of AMU and JMI, etc, he said, that the Mushawarat had a history to act judiciously in all important issues and get them resolved and become the voice of the Millat. He assured that he would make all efforts to restore the pride and place of the organization in the contemporary times.
After his inaugural comments, Mr Mujtaba Farooq, Secretary General, took over the proceedings. He informed the members that the agenda of the meeting and other details had been put in the delegate files provided to all. He advised participants to see the documents.
After introducing newly appointed office bearers and the members of MMA to the members he spoke briefly on financial and administrative issues. He said that committees would be formed according to the need to tackle various issues. Besides office bearers, valued services of all honorable members would also be sought in these committees. He said that dates of future meetings would be fixed well in advance so that members could easily participate in them. He informed that next meeting of MMA will be held in Ahmadabad on 17th April, joint meeting of MMA and MMM would be held in Kolkata on 17th July, then the next meeting of MMA would be held in Mumbai on 16th October and the next meetings of MMA and MMM would be held in New Delhi. Mr Farooq also informed that MMA had recommended the budget for the current year and had also constituted a committee to suggest necessary amendments in the constitution with Mr Amanuallah Khan as its convener and Mr Syed Shahabuddin, Dr Zararul Islam Khan and Mr Ejaz Maqbool as members, besides the President and Secretary General as ex-officio members. Mr Farooq also briefed the members on the suggestions received from Mr Syed Shahabuddin, Dr Anwarul Islam and Mr Abdul Rashid Agwan for desired amendments.
The members adopted condolence resolutions and prayed for the Maghfira of the departed luminaries who passed away after the last meeting. Members also paid glowing tributes to Mr A.B. Bardhan and Mr Rohith Vimula.
Proposed resolutions on various issues were discussed and passed after making necessary amendments as suggested by the members during discussion.
Members also took note of miscellaneous issues raised in the meeting to take action against the members who do not take interest in the activities of AIMMM; to create a platform to attract youth; to expand membership; to guide voters of Assam and West Bengal for the forthcoming Assembly Elections; to expand the organization all over India; to make efforts to bring followers of different Masaliks closer by narrowing illusionary differences; to make Supreme Council more effective; to make efforts to establish close contacts for resolving common issues as was practice in the past, etc. Members also expressed their concern regarding arrests of Muslim youths under false allegations of terrorism; New Education Policy; to pay attention for expansion of education among minorities and to help them in economic issues. Members also mentioned issues regarding education of Urdu which is considered mother tongue of a considerable section of people.
Keeping in view some urgent matters of national importance, it was decided to call a meeting before Monsoon Session of Parliament. A committee had been constituted for sorting out the issues of urgent importance of the community and the nation and to propose them to Mushawarat for due response. Mr Khwaja Mohammad Shahid was made the convener and Dr Javed Jamil and Mr Mohd. Aariz as members of the committee.
On the issue of Enemy Property Ordinance, a committee was mooted under the convenership of Mr Ameer Mohammad Khan, former Raja of Mehmoodabad. Dr Qasim Rasool Ilyas was proposed to be another member of the committee and the President would formally nominate him. Raja Sahib will guide for further line of action. The Mushawarat will work on representations to Members of the Parliament and the leaders of Political Parties.
It was resolved that the Mushawarat will take active interest for the resumption of minority character of AMU and JMI. Mr Farooq informed that the AIMMM has already called a meeting in that regard on 2nd February at the Central Office of Mushawarat.
Another committee was constituted to look into the matters of Waqf and Educational affairs. Mr Qaisar Shameem will be its convener and Jawed Alam Khan a member among others.
The Secretary General informed that distribution of work had also been done among General Secretaries. Mr Amanullah Khan was made incharge of organizational matters; Mr Ahmad Raza of Financial matters; Mr Syed Samar Hamid’s guidance would be availed regarding planning and Mr Sheikh Manzoor Ahmad would look into media matters.
Secretary General thanked all participants and assured that all possible corrective steps would be taken in the matters brought forward by the members.
