Appeal for donation

All India Muslim Majlis e Mushawarat (AIMMM) is oldest Advocacy group of Indian Muslims, launched 52 years back by Muslim leaders in mid 60s after two days deliberations in Nadwatul Ulama Lucknow with Dr. Syed Mehmood, freedom fighter and former Minister the cabinet of Pt. Jawahaharlal Nehru as its first president.

AIMMM has a long history of serving the community in its struggle to get equitable justice, defending its religious and legal rights and for strengthening of Hindu Muslim unity. Mushawarat spearheaded the formation of All India Muslim Personal Law Board and also the “AMU Action Committee” formed for restoration of its minority character in 1967. It was also at the forefront in struggle for Babri Masjid by constituting “Babri Masjid Coordination Committee”, in reaching communal strife areas and extending help to the victims with its limited resources.

After assuming charge of the office of President, I had personally ensured that organisations or people of eminence who have distanced themselves or had left Mushawarat for various reasons have been persuaded to join back with 14 Muslim organisations of repute are now part of the AIMMM caravan. Organisations like IUML and Tameer e Millat and leaders of the stature of Maulana Syed Kalb e Sadiq and Mr. E. Ahmed have rejoined Mushawarat after more than two decades. With the grace of Almighty we were able to persuade leaders of repute from Barelvi school of thought to accept Mushawarat’s membership.

All those who understands role of advocacy would agree that in this difficult era of hostilities, AIMMM which is the only confederation of muslim organisations with a credible past needs to be supported.

AIMMM is facing financial crunch and is in dire need of monetary contribution from well wishers of community. The permanent monthly income stands at a mere 15,000 INR in form of building rent. The Other contribution are through membership fees and through donations by circle of friends. The annual budget which was approved by general body in its meeting held on January 31, 2015 was meagre amount of 20 lacks which covers salary of office staff, meetings, seminars and other activities.

Mr. Syed Shahabuddin during his tenure has enrolled 74 well wishers in community to become members of the circle who were contributing 10,000 per annum but when I took charge in January this year the numbers in the circle had came down to four. We are reviving the concept of Circle of Friends and request concerned community members to join the circle. Mushawarat acknowledges its circle of friends in its annual reports and send them regular invitation and updates regarding its activities.
